These bamboo & resin kuripe are works of exquisite craftsmanship, lovingly handmade in Acre, Brazil. Each piece is beautifully adorned depending on design with beads, stones, crystals, feathers, etching on the bamboo, or waxed string, making them ornate & beautiful as well as practical.
These kuripes are specially designed for self-administering Rapè/Hapeh, a sacred shamanic snuff. Immerse yourself in the ancient ritual and experience the profound effects of this traditional practice.
These models are made by at the Tete Pawã arts and crafts studio. They are located in the upper Juruá region of Marechal Thaumaturgo municipality, way up on the Amazon. The only way to get there is a two day boat journey or with a four seater airplane. They produce state of the art handicrafts and excellent Kuntanawa Rapés. Tete Pawã is the Harpy in the Pano indigenous language. It is the biggest bird of prey of the region and considered very sacred to the native peoples of the region. A truly majestic and royal bird. In Huni Kuin myth he is an enchanted being created by Yuxibu, the great spirit.
